Today’s post is inspired by the bag of delicious red seedless grapes that I located at my neighborhood Save-A-Lot this past weekend. I usually stick to the basics-apples oranges and bananas because fruit is expensive and with a husband and 2 teens it goes fast. The grapes were on sale for 99 cents a pound so I thought “What the heck, why not splurge a bit?” And boy am I glad I did. First of all, they were HUGE. I usually eat a grape in one bite–I had to take BITES out of these suckers. Oh and did I mention how sweet they were? Glad I got a few of them, ’cause my husband devoured most of the bag!

Since I had no more available to eat, I figured I would hit the web and learn some facts about them. Here they are!

  • Grapes come in several colors including red, green, black and golden. Red is my fave!
  • With over 8000 varieties, this delicious fruit is classified as a berry.
  • Grapes were introduced to America over 300 years ago by Spanish explorers.
  • Italy is the world’s largest producer of grapes.
  • No wonder the California Raisins are so cool-over 50 varieties of grapes are grown in Cally!

There you have. Hope you enjoyed today’s post!
