5 Cool Things About Home Made Cookies

I had an active fantasy life as a kid. One of my favorite fantasies was of coming home from a long day at school to a warm, delicious plate of homemade cookies. Oh and of course the mandatory glass of cold moo juice. Alas, my fantasy never came true but I have made sure to do this for my own kids. Somehow, I don’t think it was one of their fantasies but hey, don’t judge me. I am not the first parent to live vicariously through their kids. 🙂

Anyhoo, since today is National Homemade Cookie Day, I thought I’d present a few facts about what I believe is the most popular cookie ever–the Chocolate Chip Cookie.

  • Middle Eastern cookie lovers eat their chocolate chip cookies topped with chocolate sauce and with a knife and fork.
  • Wanna give your Chocolate Chip Cookies a flavor explosion? Let them sit in the fridge 24 hours before baking. (I admit that I cannot do this. I must either bake immediately or risk eating up the cookie dough. Don’t judge me, lol)
  • America’s best loved Chocolate Chip Cookie, The Nestle Toll House recipe, was an accident. Yep, Ruth Wakefield,  co-owner of the Toll House in, made these beloved cookies by accident in the 1930’s. The rest, as they say, is history. Read more here
  • The first chocolate chip cookie was the size of a quarter.
  • The world’s largest Chocolate Chip Cookie was created in 2003 by The Immaculate Baking Company in Flat Rock, North Carolina, weighing in at a whopping 40,000 pounds.

Well, I truly hope you have enjoyed today’s post. If so, please like my facebook page, share and subscribe!
